The 2016 Kia Rio has just arrived at Fisher Kia, and it’s already one of our most popular vehicles. Boulder and Denver drivers continue to choose the Rio over other compact sedans thanks to its strong engine and upscale cabin, so make sure you come down for a test drive before deciding on any other vehicle.
Kia have offered the 2016 Rio in three trim levels, allowing Boulder and Denver drivers to move from a perfect vehicle for everyday driving right up to a top-of-the-line model that offers everything you need to fully enjoy every journey.
LX: Considering its $14,165 starting price, the entry-level LX comes with a surprising level of technology. Drivers will be able to enjoy features such as heated power mirrors, air conditioning, a trip computer, steering-wheel-mounted audio controls, and a sound system with both a CD player and SiriusXM satellite radio.
EX: Starting at $17,755, the EX makes several upgrades to your driving experience. A six-speaker audio system is included as standard, as well as cruise control, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and upgraded cloth upholstery.
SX: Starting at $20,755, the LX blends state-of-the-art technology with first-class styling. After you sink into luxurious leather seats, which are heated in the front, you’ll be able to use a GPS navigation system to find your route and keyless ignition to get going without a hitch. Sport-tuned suspension provides a smooth ride and a sunroof lets you open up your cabin.
Powertrains and MPG
Boasting an output of 138 horsepower and 123 lb-ft of torque – impressive figures for a vehicle of this size – the 2016 Kia Rio remains responsive and agile under all conditions thanks to its 1.6L 4-cylinder engine. That engine comes as standard, though Boulder and Denver drivers will be able to choose between either a 6-speed manual transmission – for up to 27 mpg in the city and 38 on the highway – or a 6-speed automatic – for up to 27 and 37. For the efficiency-minded driver, there’s even the available Eco package. It comes with an automatic stop-start system that takes you to 28 mpg in the city.
Features and Design
The Kia Rio received a minor refresh for 2016, improving interior materials, adding sound insulation for a whisper-quiet ride, and restyling the grille and taillights for a modern appearance. Of course, the model has always been valued for its ability to provide a sleek, agile profile, and the 2016 model offers 88.4 cubic feet of passenger space and a generous 13.7 cubic feet of trunk space. The Rio also offers plenty of features to keep your drive both comfortable and convenient.
Heated Front Seats: When Boulder and Denver days start to get colder, this handy heating function will keep you nice and warm during your commute.
UVO 7-Inch Touchscreen: Allows you to view your rearview camera feed, contact roadside assistance, take advantage of hands-free calling, and more.
Keyless Entry: Unlock and enter the Rio without ever having to fish around in your pockets for the keys.
The 2016 Kia Rio comes with a diverse range of safety features, and offers each one as standard across all trim levels.
Hill Start Assist Control: Keeps the car motionless while you pull away on an incline by gently applying the brakes for two seconds as you move your foot from the brake pedal to the accelerator.
Electronic Brake-Force Distribution: Provides braking pressure to each wheel according to a network of sensors, ensuring precise control and pinpoint handling while applying the brakes.
Lower Anchors and Tethers for Children (LATCH): This universal child-seat attachment system lets you attach LATCH-equipped child seats to keep even the littlest passengers safe in the event of a collision.
It’s natural enough for the team here at Fisher Kia to appreciate the Rio. After all, we get to see our customers enjoying it first-hand. However, we’re always thrilled to see impartial critics reaching the same opinion.
