The 2013 Kia Sedona May Surprise Westminster Drivers
The 2013 Kia Sedona may come as a shock to Westminster drivers: it might not be a minivan at all! While nothing definitive has been decided yet by Kia, there has been talk of moving away from the traditional minivan style to appeal to a broader market, as they tend to carry the stigma of being the uncool family vehicle due to their trademark body style. Minivans like the Kia Sedona definitely give families with children all that they need in a family vehicle: size, seating, storage, and versatility. However, many SUVs are starting to come equipped with fold-down third-row seating that gives families similar seating capacities to what minivans provide. At Fisher Kia we know that Westminster drivers already love the 2012 Kia Sedona, and the 2013 Sedona is hoping to keep all the qualities that families love about the minivan, all while giving it a cool new facelift.
2013 Kia Sedona Replaced by the KV7 Concept?
The 2013 Sedona is due for a makeover for the new automotive year. So, in an effort to appeal to a larger market, Kia is thinking of taking a note from their popular Soul in terms of the body style. The concept vehicle in the works that it speculated to replace the Sedona minivan is the
. Its body style resembles that of the Kia Soul, therefore categorizing it as a wagon/crossover instead of a minivan. The concept vehicle has some pretty futuristic features that may not actually make it if it goes into production, like a gullwing passenger side door and swivel back seats. However, some of the other proposed features, like onboard Wi-Fi and a tabletop computer, could definitely take trim levels up a notch. Despite the new body style and futuristic features, the KV7 would still have seating for seven just like the current Kia Sedona.
Even though it’s still in the concept stages, the KV7 is powered by Kia's new turbocharged, direct-injected, 2.0L I-4 engine and reportedly produces 285 hp — 14 more hp than the current 2012 Kia Sedona. According to Kia, this could help the KV7 achieve more than 30 mpg. At Fisher Kia we know how important fuel economy is, which is why we have Westminster’s best selection of Kia vehicles that get 30 mpg or more.
